Data changelog
What we verified, what we corrected, and when. Every figure on this site comes from a dataset with a verification date; this page is the history behind those dates — including the 6 corrections we have made so far, with the old figure, the new one and the source. Checks that changed nothing are listed too (4 so far), because knowing a number was re-read against the law last month is worth as much as knowing it was fixed.
Dataset status
Read from the data files themselves at build time. “Next review” is when the dataset is scheduled to be re-read against its sources; tax-year data turns over with the January update.

Spain nomad-visa threshold now assessed on the annualised SMI the UGE applies: €2,849, not the consulate-stated €2,442
- Before
- €2,442 — 200% of the plain monthly SMI of €1,221, as the Washington consulate page states
- After
- €2,849 — 200% of €1,221 × 14 payments ÷ 12 = €1,424.50, the basis the UGE applies; the consulate figure stays in the dataset as the lower bound, and family uplifts move to €1,068.38 / €356.13
Two official sources give two numbers. The consulate page we cited computes 200% of the plain monthly SMI (€2,442). The UGE’s own FAQ (question 19) states the percentage only — no euro figure and no 12- or 14-payment rule — and immigration practitioners consistently report it assessing the annualised monthly value (€1,221 × 14 ÷ 12), which also reproduces the widely reported 2025 figure of €2,762. Because the UGE decides in-Spain applications and a €407 shortfall there means refusal, the checker now tests against the higher basis, and the guide explains why both figures exist. The discrepancy surfaced while reading immigration-law commentary that called our figure wrong; the correction records both sources rather than picking one silently.

- Update
Quarterly FX refresh from ECB and National Bank of Georgia reference rates
- Before
- USD 1.1435, SGD 1.4765 per EUR; GEL 2.6327 per USD, 3.01 per EUR (17 July)
- After
- USD 1.1188, SGD 1.4319 per EUR (ECB 13 October); GEL 2.5989 per USD, 2.9074 per EUR (NBG 14 October)
Rates are indicative and refreshed quarterly; they exist to make cross-currency comparisons consistent, not to price a transfer. The AED peg (3.6725 per USD) is unchanged. Next refresh: January 2027.

Belastingplan 2027 (Prinsjesdag) checked: every 2026 Dutch figure holds; 2027 parameters captured for the January update
The 2027 tax plan was read on publication. It contains no retroactive 2026 change, so the live dataset stands. The 2027 rates, bracket limits, credit tables and the €900 zelfstandigenaftrek were recorded for the January update and will be re-checked against the Staatscourant after the Senate vote in December.

Dutch deduction tapering and Canadian CPP deduction/credit split confirmed from the statutes — no change
Two formulas had been implemented from guidance pages and were due a cross-check against official simulators that require a login. Instead both were read from the law itself: Wet IB 2001 art. 2.10 lid 2 for the Dutch tariefsaanpassing (11.94% × min(income − €78,426, deductions)), and Income Tax Act ss. 60(e), 60(e.1) and 118.7 for which parts of self-employed CPP are a deduction and which a credit. Both implementations matched the statute exactly.

British Columbia lowest rate confirmed at 5.60% after two CRA tables disagreed; Singapore GST threshold confirmed at S$1 million
Two CRA pages implied different lowest rates for British Columbia (5.06% and 5.60%). The derived constants in the payroll formulas only reconcile with 5.60%, and the province’s own announcement (17 February 2026) confirms it — the January table simply predated the announcement. No change to the dataset.
Singapore’s GST registration threshold was checked directly on IRAS, which renders its figures client-side and had resisted automated reading: S$1 million under both the retrospective and prospective tests, as the dataset already said.

Newfoundland and Labrador basic personal amount was the January figure; raised retroactively in April
- Before
- $11,188
- After
- $13,094 (announced 2026-04-29, effective 1 January 2026)
The dataset had been built from the January edition of CRA’s payroll formulas; the July edition’s “what’s new” lists a retroactive increase announced in April. With the change, the province with the lowest basic personal amount becomes Nova Scotia ($11,932), and the sentences that said otherwise were rewritten. Lesson: for Canada, read the mid-year edition — in-year announcements apply retroactively.

Eurostat 2025 price level indices for 39 countries, generated from the SDMX-CSV feed
The indices are pulled from Eurostat’s SDMX 2.1 endpoint as CSV and converted by script, not retyped. The generator asserts the six values Eurostat quoted in its own press release (Denmark 140, Ireland 136, Luxembourg 132, Bulgaria 63, Romania 65, Poland 73); a run that disagrees with the press release fails. Next Eurostat release: December 2026.

All 15 common-regime regional IRPF scales added from the AEAT manual, with an arithmetic check that caught a misread
The scales are generated by script from the AEAT tables, and the generator asserts the cumulative-tax identity on every row (each row’s cuota must equal the previous cuota plus bracket width × rate). The first reading of La Rioja failed that check — a column had shifted — and was corrected before anything was published. Three regions measured earlier had suggested Madrid is cheapest everywhere; the full set shows that depends on income.

Nomad visa income thresholds for 7 countries, with the 1 January 2026 changes in Spain and Portugal
- Before
- widely published: Spain €2,368, Portugal €3,480
- After
- Spain €2,442 (200% of SMI, RD 126/2026), Portugal €3,680 (4 × RMMG, DL 139/2025)
Three of the seven thresholds (Spain, Portugal, Croatia) are multiples of a national wage figure that resets each January, so they moved on 1 January 2026 while most published tables kept the old values. Each threshold is stored with the anchor value and the gazette reference it derives from, so the January update is a one-line change per country.

Payment-fee dataset added — only figures a provider publishes as fixed are stored; everything else is an input
Provider fees are not gazette data: they change without notice and some are never published at all. So the dataset stores only what a provider fixes in its own fee schedule (PayPal’s international commercial rate of 4.99% + $0.49 and its 4% currency-conversion spread). Wise’s “from 0.57%” is a floor, so its rate is an input with only the no-markup policy recorded; a bank’s FX margin is an input because no bank publishes one — which is the reason the calculator exists. The schedule is re-read quarterly with the partner price check.

Spain regional variation was understated in the page text
- Before
- "one to three points" of regional variation
- After
- combined top rates from 45% (Madrid) to 54% (Comunitat Valenciana); about €260 at €30,000 and €2,715 at €100,000
The calculator’s figures were right; the sentence describing how much your region changes them was not. Measured against the AEAT regional scales for Madrid, Cataluña and Valencia, the spread is far larger than the text claimed, and the dearest region changes with income. The FAQ on the same page had been correct all along — the lesson is to derive repeated numbers from the dataset rather than restate them by hand.

Georgia 3% rate applies from the month the ₾500,000 cap is crossed, not only to the excess
- Before
- 3% on turnover above ₾500,000
- After
- 3% on all income from the start of the month the cumulative turnover crosses ₾500,000, through year end
Article 90(2) of the Tax Code, read in the official English translation, applies the higher rate to the whole of the crossing month and every month after it, not to the excess alone. On ₾700,000 of evenly spread turnover the tax moves from ₾11,000 to ₾11,667. The calculator now estimates the crossing month from an even monthly turnover and says so in its result.
Lesson recorded: verify how a rule operates, not just the rate.

Dubai take-home dataset added — housing fee, ILOE, gratuity and the corporate tax threshold for natural persons
Zero income tax is the easy part; the dataset records what a Dubai resident actually pays — the 5% municipality housing fee, ILOE insurance, VAT, end-of-service gratuity — and the corporate-tax rules that reach freelancers above AED 1 million of revenue. The housing fee was confirmed on two official pages (the Dubai Municipality portal and DEWA’s bill explanation) before it was used.

Estonia e-resident company dataset added — state fees, distribution tax and withholding on board fees
State fees and taxes were taken from the Estonian Tax and Customs Board and the official e-Residency knowledge base. One figure differed between the two official pages; the discrepancy was noted at verification rather than silently resolved. Market service costs (accounting, address) are inputs, not data, because no authority publishes them.

Portugal 2026 IRS brackets, simplified-regime coefficients and social security checked against CIRS and the ISS guide — no change
Every figure in the Portugal dataset was read back against the consolidated CIRS articles on Portal das Finanças and the ISS practical guide for independent workers. Nothing changed. The solidarity surtax bands were later confirmed to be lower-bound (“over”) bands rather than cumulative ones when the published guide figures were reproduced from the calculator functions.

Spain hard-to-justify expenses allowance is 5%, not 7%
- Before
- 7% of net income
- After
- 5% of net income (7% applied to 2023 only)
The AEAT page states the allowance as 5%, with 7% for 2023 only. Many guides still quote 7%. The calculator now applies 5% and its FAQ explains why other figures differ.

Spain RETA monthly quotas for tramos 7–14 were 2023 values
- Before
- tramo 11: €370/month (€380.85 with MEI)
- After
- tramo 11: €440/month (€452.94 with MEI)
The first draft of the Spain dataset took its quota table from a secondary summary that had updated the lower six tramos but not the upper eight. Checked against Orden PJC/297/2026 in the BOE, tramos 7–14 were replaced with the published 2026 figures. The gap was up to about €864 a year for an autónomo in those bands. The official Import@ss simulator later returned the corrected tramo-11 figure to the cent.
Rule adopted from this: table-shaped data is taken from the gazette or the authority’s own page, never from a summary.

How entries get here
Figures are taken only from official sources — gazettes, tax authorities, central banks, Eurostat — and every dataset carries the date it was last read against them. A data file cannot be changed without an entry on this page: the build fails if a dataset’s verification date is newer than its latest record here. Corrections name the old figure, the new one and the source. Checks that find nothing to change are recorded as well. See the editorial policy for the full process, and report an error via the contact page.
